  13. Error message "This function is not supported" appears when playing 
  14. compressed wave files using Wave Studio or SoundO'le.

  18. Many sound card manufacturers adopt their own audio compression scheme 
  19. which is not compatible to our own Creative audio compression.  Attempting to 
  20. play such files will result in following error message:
  21.  
  22. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
  23.    "This function is not supported.  Use the Capabilities function to
  24.     determine which functions and message the driver supports."
  25. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

  27. Attempting to play the same file in DOS using WPLAY.EXE version 1.03 will 
  28. produce error message "Error WPLAY41: Unable to locate code file 
  29. C:\SB16\ASP\WO0002.ASP".  The message will also vary depends on the 
  30. version of WPLAY.EXE being used.

  34. As these problems are due to different implementation of audio compression by 
  35. different vendors, there is currently no solution to this problem but take notice 
  36. that similar problems will occur on other vendors' sound card which does 
  37. not support Creative ADPCM & the standard CCITT A-law & *-law audio 
  38. compression format.
